Stay Safe and Secure this Festive Season

Government Security would like everyone to stay safe and secure, both in and out of the workplace, this festive period.

Put security at the top of your list and together let’s have security ‘wrapped up’ this Christmas with these helpful tips:

  • Avoid taking OFFICIAL documents or devices to festive parties. Leave them locked away at the office or at home
  • Check your surroundings, be mindful of the conversations you are having when outside of the office environment
  • Wear your security pass in not out. Wearing your pass in public may make you a person of interest to those looking to do harm
  • Follow your organisations clear desk policy, store all information away safely and securely especially if you are going on holiday
  • Check your departmental policy around the use of OFFICIAL devices overseas
  • Be aware of your own personal safety, especially if travelling home alone at night
  • Be vigilant. If you see something that doesn’t look right report your concerns to security and your manager. In an emergency call 999
  • ‘Don’t take the bait’ this Christmas. Report suspicious emails immediately following your departmental reporting guidance
  • Be careful of what you are posting on social media. If you are going to post online, think before you do soFamiliarise yourself with your organisation’s incident reporting procedures and report any lost documents or devices immediately.

From all in Government Security

We wish you a safe, secure and happy holidays
