Cyber security secondments
Information on secondments in government cyber security, and external secondments if you're a civil servant.
A secondment is a unique opportunity for cyber security professionals to expand their expertise, gain new perspectives and develop their careers. By working in a different department or sector you can enhance your technical and leadership skills, build valuable networks and contribute to critical national security initiatives.
Secondments offer hands-on experience with new challenges, technologies, and ways of working, helping you become a more well-rounded professional.
Digital Secondments Programme
If you are currently employed by an organisation outside of the Civil Service and would like to be considered for secondment opportunities in government cyber security, you should:
- complete the form on Digital Secondments Programme, or
- contact the Government Security Profession to discuss any other opportunities to get involved in working for government cyber security
Going on secondment if you are an existing civil servant
If you are currently a civil servant working in cyber security and would like to consider going out on secondment to an external organisation, you should first discuss this with your line manager.
While we do not currently have outward secondment opportunities to advertise on this site, we would encourage you to discuss the process of secondments with your own departmental HR team and with any organisation with whom you would like to gain experience.
For an informal discussion on secondments, email the Security Profession Team at gsp@cabinetoffice.gov.uk and we can set up a call.
