Cyber Security Fast Stream
The Civil Service Fast Stream is the Civil Service’s flagship leadership development programme, developing people from a wide range of backgrounds who have the potential to become our future senior leaders. This programme has consistently achieved a top spot in the The Times Top 100 Graduate Employer list.
Our Cyber Security Fast Stream programme allows you to embark on a 3-year transformative journey, meticulously designed to cultivate the next generation of leaders in cyber security.
Unique learning model
This program emphasises the development of leadership acumen through a unique 70/20/10 learning model:
- 70% learning through experience. You will be placed in various government departments – this is often regarded as most beneficial as it enables you to put your knowledge into practice and embed learning. By taking on new and challenging and stretching work responsibilities, you will learn through these experiences to equip yourself to be a future leader.
- 20% learning through others. This is sometimes referred to as ‘social learning’. It’s about how one shares their knowledge and experiences with others and also how they learn from them. There are many ways to do this – we refer to this as Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- 10% learning through structured education. This will include virtual and classroom learning.
This comprehensive approach ensures that graduates emerge with robust leadership capabilities and the technical knowledge essential for driving success in today’s dynamic professional environments.

Developed vetting
Additionally, during the 3-year scheme, some Cyber fast streamers will have the opportunity to undergo a higher level of security clearance called ‘Developed Vetting’.
